Sell your Digital Photography at Stock Photo Sites

Many hobbies can be turned into business ideas that can make you money and some can even become a work from home business. As a digital photographer you can sell those beautiful photographs online.
Digital photography allows you to capture a variety of images in a variety of formats. For instance, did you and/or your family ever have one of those old-fashioned pictures taken, you know the ones where you got to choose an old-timer outfit to wear. Those pictures were printed out in a kinda brown coloring (known as a sepia tone) or black and white. Well anymore you can create the same effect on your digital camera and/or computer when you edit a photo.
Stock photography is one of the best ways to break into the online digital photography arena. You can sell your photos to others who need pictures for websites, newsletters, magazines, e-zines and any other media. Do many of the picture look the same when you surf the interne?. Your pictures can add a new flavor to what is currently being offered.
Stock photography sites offer customers the option to purchase pictures or lease them for a certain amount of time. On some of the sites, some of the photos are free to use when signing an agreement of use as long as you put a link back to the site when using the picture.
Of course you will make more money if your photos are leased as opposed to being sold. Selling your pictures for a one time sale may make you some cash, but with a lease it will provide a continuous source of income off of that one picture. You can start researching current stock photography sites to find one that offers the leasing option to customers.
Make sure you produce quality work, if your not sure what that is, take a look at other stock photographs. What do they have in common? Are the pictures clear? Can you make out all of the features of the photo? Next take a look at yours, make sure your pictures are clear, unique and once again quality, make your work stand out in the crowd. Don’t be afraid to try some new ideas for holiday photos or for everyday photos. They will let you know what does and does not sell.
While you’re out there trying to sell or lease your photos, create a website or blog with links to the stock photography sites featuring your work. This will not only send more people to view your photographs and may lead to future business opportunities.
