TR Work from Home Ideas is a site about finding your passion “Being your own boss” – “Starting your own Business” and “Working from Home” so you can spend more time with your family. You could even make it a family-site where everyone contributes something and maybe make some extra money while your at it. This is what TR & K’s Work from Home Ideas, Tips and Resources is about, we are a family looking to work from home with our own family business, with each person contributing. We will share some of the tips and ideas we have learned along the way about starting a site and much more.
The T (that’s me) in TR started the ball rolling for a couple reasons, first because I would like to cut back on my 8-5 job hours and be able to retire a few (ok, several) years early and knowing that what we have in retirement probably won’t be enough to do that, starting an at home business that I can work as few or many hours as I want was appealing. So by starting this now I’m hoping the websites will be going well and providing a decent supplemental income to pursue that dream. Second, the R in TR was out of work and needed something to motivate him in life, something to focus on.
So in 2007 I started researching the web and trying to learn as much as I could. It was then that I ran across SBI and after doing a lot of research I discovered they have a great reputation as well as provided all the tools needed to create a successful website. They were not promoting the get rich quick/overnight, which I knew never works. But they were giving you the facts and teaching you how and why to set up your website. And the great thing about it was they just happened to be running their buy one get one free promotion (check the right sidebar towards the top and see if they are running one now). Yes I did have to pull together the funds, which was a bit tight at the time, but again I had to remind myself this was an investment in not only my but my son’s future (and eventually other family members when we succeed). SBI didn’t have the monthly payment option then that they have now (note: monthly option not available on the special promotion, which is understandable).
We started the Action Guide I believe it was in December 2007 and by 2008 we had our websites up and running. Yipee! It’s really fun when your site is on something you love.
After about a year of working on our first websites (and we still blog and add pages to them, websites are an ongoing process, but a lot of fun) about our passions; Online Games Your Way and Saving Money Makes Cents, we have now dabbled in several more web/blog sites using different programs from paid to free.
I still feel that SBI is the best program out there and is very comparable in price to other programs in which you pay for different things to different places like domain name, hosting, auto responders and more. The free sites are fine for little things but you are very limited. So that is why TR & K’s Work From Home Ideas, Tips and Resources came about, to share what we have learned and some of the resources that we feel are useful and to give you a few ideas on what type of online site or work from home business to start.
We are still working on the K in TR & K getting her (my daughter) motivated is taking a little more time, but it will come, lol, she just doesn’t know it yet. Check out her blog at Reaching for Your Stars, that is her first attempt at a blog site and I was pretty impressed.
